Job Responsibilities

With safety being top of mind, the boiler operator is expected to operate and monitor the boiler house in conjunction with other plant staff. The boiler house is located adjacent to the cogeneration plant and consists of three 80kpph boilers and one 60kpph boiler. The cogeneration plant is a 25mw combined cycle facility utilizing an LM2500 gas turbine, 6.5mw steam turbine, high-pressure HRSG, and high voltage switchgear. 

• Monitor plant equipment to ensure proper operation and identify developing trends.

• Bring boilers on-line and off-line in a safe and proficient manner. 

• Ensure work orders are written on faulty or unsafe equipment. 

• Understand and perform boiler water chemistry testing. 

• Receive fuel shipments and record information in log book. 

• Perform safety and environmental inspections. 

• Assist the maintenance department as needed. 

• Monitor and maintain operating levels in equipment. 

• Perform additional tasks are required. 

Education

• High school diploma

• Most possess a State of New Jersey Boiler Operator License (Black Seal, High Pressure).

Requirements

• Required to work 12 hour rotation shifts including weekends and holidays. 

• Ability to read, write and communicate in the English language and perform mathematical computations.

• Ability to learn the principles and operations of power plant equipment.

• Ability to operate valves, switches, controls, keyboards and other devices associated with power plant and material handling equipment, as well as basic hand, portable and pneumatic tools and basis rigging equipment. 

• Basic PC knowledge, including email, word and excel
