What is the EPA 609 MVAC Certification?
MVAC Technicians are required to pass an EPA-approved test to earn Section 609 Certification. After you pass the final exam on our portal we will begin processing your credentials the next business day. You will receive a digital copy of your credentials and an ID card mailed to you.

The Training Center is an EPA-approved organization since February 23, 2011 for EPA Section 608 and July 11, 2022 for EPA Section 609 Training and Certification.
Your student journey begins with an easy-to-follow on-demand training program. Upon choosing to enroll, you will create an account within our portal, go through the content at your pace, and then take the final exam. Once you have access to the Student Portal you can select other career development programs, track your history, and continue to study the content. The LMS we offer allows access to a wealth of resources including notes, videos, and practice exams.
You have unlimited attempts for your final exam included in the cost of the course. Testing is available online 7 days a week.

You will find our content is designed to meet the EPA training requirements. The goal of this program is outlined in SAE J2845 and is to provide information to technicians about safely handling refrigerants and the control of emissions during service.

EPA 608 Universal is a general purpose certification to address safe handling and recycling of refrigerants used in air conditioning systems which are stationary. The EPA 609 (MVAC) is specific for servicing refrigerant systems for motor vehicles. There are examples where the 609 does not cover air conditioner systems found on larger vehicles (specifically HCFC-22 systems). No, there is no certification renewal requirements after completing this course. However for any technicians certified before 2015 who have not been trained to service MVAC systems using HFO-1234yf, R-744, or HFC-152a may take this course to serve as a refresher course. As new alternative refrigerants are introduced into the industry, our content will be continuously updated.

You will see your results upon completion of your final exam. Your credentials will be processed the next business day. Should you fail, you can retake the exam at a time that is convenient for you with no additional fee.

The Training Center will begin processing your credentials the next business day. Typically you will receive a digital copy of your credentials 3-4 days after your final exam and on that day your hard copy will be mailed to your address on file.
